The Hustler Mindset – Step by Step Approach To Ethical Marketing
Every day Im hustlin’ , every day hustlin’! This is the motto I live by and The Hustler Mindset.
Some of you might think negatively about a hustler and might refer to them as the
thugs in a rap video or local hoodlums.
But let’s analyze the term hustle for a minute.
As a verb it is defined as obtaining something out of forceful action or persuasion.
As a noun it means busy movement and activity.
Creating something out of nothing seems like the perfect definition of hustle.
“If I wasn’t in the rap game
I’d probably have a key knee deep in the crack game
Because the streets is a short stop
Either you’re slingin’ crack rock or you got a wicked jump shot”
- Biggie Smalls
The act of earning something from seemingly nothing is the art of hustling.
I don’t condone being a thug, not at all but merely saying that any person can hustle, too.
Talk about Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Henry Ford or Richard Branson all hustled their way
through ups and downs of their entrepreneur career and adopted the hustle mindset
that made them mademen.
A Hustler don’t wait until they have something, they go out and get it.
Whether it be cash drug money, job opportunities or that dime girl who is alone by herself at the bar.
The killer instinct of a good hustler is the no nonsense mindset that takes what he wants and
makes a way when there is no way.
All great entrepreneurs no matter where they are in their road to success always forces
themselves to make a way like a river back to the ocean.
Even Malcolm X explained that the hustlers in the ghetto knows no limits since they are born
underdogs and been always at the bottom.
There is no other way but up at this stage and they either Get rich or Die tryin’.
In our case as online marketer, we Either Get Rich or Die Typin’
Either way, seeing yourself as an underdog hustler gives you the mindset to commit wholeheartedly.
Taking risks and stepping out of comfort zones is the essence of a hustler.
Learning to be a boss as you take the role and similar to a jazz musician improvising in the middle of his solo act.
Make mistakes to learn and improve yourself without restraints.
Now you can see that being a hustler or a baller in the online marketing world is all the same game.
Are you ready to Ball until you Fall? Watch this video and learn how to hustle
Step 1. Dangerous like a snake,
but peaceful like a Dove
Be proud, respected and somewhat feared, but not prideful. Show your skills and what you can do,
but don’t be a show off unless it calls for it at certain situations where your killer instinct needs to be shown.
Step 2. You are the Boss,
so act as if…..
Yes I know it is hard to be a newbie.
Remember that you got this job or this business startup not by accident! You wanted this and this is your time to shine
so own it like you have been doing this forever.
The problem with first impressions is that you only get one, so be confident and bold and be the rockstar that you are.
Step 3. The Hustler Mindset never sleeps
Working for a boss makes you want to punch the clock right in the face when you eight hour shift ends.
In your own business, you hustle until the cows come home.
Even drug dealers hustle all night long to make that paper
Step 4. Have a Swag
Even if you don’t know the answer or solution and not the master of the task at hand,
have some finesse and confidence to lead.
Being calm in the midst of the storm is enough to spark others to get the job done to help you.
The Hustler Mindset is not one man show but shows to be a true leader and great networker aka bridge builder.
Step 5. Be flexible and
go with the flow
Business change in a daily basis. When what works today may not work tomorrow. My theory is everything works but
nothing works forever.
So having wisdom is many different areas of your business so when a rainy day or a challenge arises in a certain area,
you are able to fix it asap.
Maintenance is the key and a well balanced know how.
Step 6. Live and die another day
Not all battle is won in a war.
This is a marathon not a sprint to finish. Not checkers but a chess game where you must sacrifice
some losses in order to have some gains.
If you go all in on your business all the time you will broke than before you even got started.
Taking a few steps back and seeing the situation from a bird’s eye view will answer most questions
and solves most problems.
Take a deep breathe go back and regain your composure and take a break because tomorrow is another
day to pick up where you left off. Don’t try to win battles at the expense of the war.
Step 7. Know your role
and shut your mouth
Listen Jabroni, we all have to be somebody and work for someone before getting to our divine destiny.
I know you may have to put up with your nagging boss, but that is his job, to nag.
You may have to do a desk work you hate.
You may have to do crazy shift works or work that really abuses you.
That is ok and it is part of your journey.
Where you are right now is where you should be as long as you have mapped out your goals.
You gain experiences that makes up to be who you are through these job roles and complaining
will not get you anywhere.
Instead own it because it is as much as part of your success to provide current solutions to your
life needs and business funding.
Step 8. Patience is a Virtue
Did Ray Allen become the best three pointer in the NBA because he is born with it?
He said that before the actual game he would come to the empty court and practice his jumpshot
for 3 hours everyday.
Thats a lot of jumpshots and its enough for him to make it the best and not a mediocre baller.
You will need patience and do the necessary training needed in order for you to grow into the man or
woman you are called out to be.
Step 9. Rinse lather and repeat
There is a book out there called “all marketers are liars” by Seth Godin.
“Not liars, storytellers
He does explain that marketers aren’t liars but really good story tellers.
How do you become a good storyteller?
You read stories, follow the stories, do the stories and document you own stories.
When you experienced it you repeat it again.
Step 10: Keep your poker face
Business is like playing poker and you should never reveal your “hand” to people around you.
Humility and downplaying yourself to certain people does maximize your leverage.
But you’ll want to show off a certain cunning and savviness with in an area or field you’re currently lacking.
Have this strategy at hand and play the game because it is fun! Don’t let others in on your playbook though
and keep them guessing.
Step 11. Learn how to take
shortcuts when necessary
The Hustler Mindset plays by his instincts.
There is a saying “I choose a lazy person to do a hard job. Because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it.” -Bill Gates
If you are stuck on a highway and your GPS map shows there is an alternate route, use your noggin’ and try that path.
When you research and use your tools, you will discover ways to solve the puzzle and will make you succeed faster.
Step 12. Strive to be the Top Dog
Anything worth doing is worth doing well. Even if you are the underdog or didnt get the gold medal,
count your blessings and be grateful for your small victories.
Learn from your experience and come out wiser the next round.
Many battles are lost, this is part of being a warrior, but always aim to win the war!
Step 13. Geek smarts is good
but Street smarts better
Having PhD in any specialty is an asset and I do believe in achieving these in your
one of your chosen passions.
Having a degree in Street Smartology is much better than any theory you can learn.
It takes instinct, guts, grit, heart and mind for you to win the game of life.
And there are no guarantees in life so being able to maneuver yourself
from the ups and downs is the greatest hustler’s asset of all.
Geek smarts can be learned but street smarts is earned.
